Hello,
So, after traveling around India, from hills to beaches and flocking around plains, I thought I have seen it all but then we got the opportunity to stay and experience The Ibnii Coorg and realised what they mean when they say ' The best way to find yourself is to Loose yourself in the lap of nature'.
While we were on the wheels, we gathered all the information about The Ibnii Coorg from the PR team. My first question obviously was, what does Ibnii mean! We were told it means ' Falling Dew Drop ' in Kodagu. Also The the best eco-luxury resort in the country and the first resort in India to acquire IGBC’s (Indian Green Building Council) Green Homes Platinum Award 2017. When the resort was designed, utmost care was taken to design architecture and landscape so as to minimise the damage to local flora. The resort has a no plastic policy and try to avoid the use of paper as much as possible.
We reached Ibnii around 7ish. While it was pitch dark, I could still feel the cool breeze on my face and bugs buzzing in this oddly satisfying rhythm.
We could hardly see anything, were asked to follow the lead. As we were already told a little about the unique reception area ' Kaadu' , how it is made on an elevated platform and has the best you ever,on one hand, my expectations worse but on the other hand, I was prepared so thorough nothing could surprise me!
Guess what! I was shook! As we walking on the canti-levered bridge towards Kaadu, I totally got that matrix movie feels. The platform is not only elevated high but also has a spectacular view of the water body, four-tiered swimming pool and coffee and black pepper. As soon as we arrived we were served with the traditional Kodagu coffee called Chukko Kappi which honestly is the most innovative and delicious black coffee ever and believe me when I say that as I am not a black coffee person!
After our paperless check-in was done, we entered Ibnii's hidden world of its own. Golf carts transported us to our rooms and just by look at our rooms, we were stunned. As it was dark, we could not see the view outside but the elegant, minimalistic but luxury approach to the room decor totally worn our heart.
We were staying at pool vila's, so we were already expecting a lot but rooms were way beyond f our expectations.
So we took a quick room tour, had dinner at The Fig and called it a day!
Next working the sweet sound of birds chirping work us up! Mind you, the resort is home to 45 different species of birds so if you are into bird watching, you must head to The Ibnii Coorg.
We pulled up the blinds to let the peaking sunlight in and from our bed all we could see was sparking pool water at on one side and our Jacuzzi waiting for is on the other.
In the fresh morning breeze, we walked our way to The Fig, their multi-cuisine restaurant for the breakfast buffet. I was surprised to see a huge spread. They had everything from different breads to cupcakes to south Indian, English breakfast, juice and a lot more. Everything was not only delicious but organic too! The best part is that resort has their Sewage treatment plant so nothing is completely wasted.
All of us loaded into golf carts which I like to call as buggies and went for a complete property tour. The place is huge! 120 acre of land with 3 lakes that were created on the property for rainwater harvesting. PS: a few ducks have made one of the lakes their home and make a guest appearance every once in a while! While we were on our way to the yoga deck we managed to see a duck.
Talking of yoga deck, it was just beauty in the purest form. A wooden structure mounted alongside one of the lakes and has this calm that all we participants of the rat race are after. We walked around in the woods and found some wild shrubs with beans growing on them and guess what! They were white peppercorns, isn't that cool!
After spending a lot of time at the yoga deck we took off to check out the inhouse STP and others workshops, yes, they try to produce as much food as possible inhouse and also try to provide employment to locals.
It was time to return to The Fig again for lunch post which we went straight to the coffee shop which was my favourite place, The Kaldi Kappee, the coffee shop is the cutest, most beautiful little nook. With it's outdoor patio area with picnic benches and a wooden path leading up-to the lake that surrounds the place is nothing less than Switzerland.
We took a baking class and then headed to the outdoor seating area with our warm cookies and hot cappuccinos.
After coffee and snacks it was time to head back to our room where tree leaves with a little message, good night wish and a few chocolates was waiting for us.
we decided to enjoy our rooms and its luxuries rather than going out.
First thing I did was to start water to fill up my jacuzzi as it takes two hours. In the mean while we sat outside our front door on the bench snacking on the organic fruit. Took a little walk and then it was time to slip in my hot fizzing jacuzzi.
The Ibnii due to its vast area do not room service and they take pride in not having phone connectivity as the whole idea of staying at Ibnii is to have a real holiday away from gadgets.
We ended our night by sitting on the room patio, sipping some wine by the private pool, one can spend hours grazing the stars kissing the sky.
Next morning started with a dip in our private pool. Infinity pool, fresh coffee, greens, blue sky and no pollution in the air, what else could I asked for!
Later we went for a little outing to monasteries, bought some local specialities like cardamon seeds, banana chips and other spices.
Lunch was arranged at Baalelle which translates to Banana Leaf in Kodwa language. Baalelle is their vegetarian restaurants and serves the yummiest South Indian thaale. Have to mention their special naan, it was just 👌🏻.
Later we went for a walk in the coffee plantation and got a really interesting coffee tour. We got to know the history of coffee, how an Ethiopian shepherd discovered coffee accidentally when his goats were chewing on some wild berries which happened to be coffee beans.
After the walk, we headed to our Spa appointment about which you can read in my post Manja Spa- Ibnii Coorg
Post-spa we ran to Kaldi Kappee to slip in a cup of hot coffee before we freshen up for our barbique night. Sun was setting, we could see fishes flowing freely in the lake and trees dancing to the tunes of wind, we sat right at the end of the wooden pathway and had our coffee.
Before heading to drinks and dinner, we got some time and slipped in our beloved jacuzzi one last time. Did I mention how good their in-house bath salt was!
We get all dressed up and went to Elevate the bar to get some drinks. Let me tell you, I DO NOT DRINK but they had some of the best cocktails that totally get me Elevated! 😉
Later we went to Masi Kande for or Barbeque night. The place is a rooftop with on table BBQ's. I loved their mushrooms and pineapples.
To give our super fun trip we rose a toast and called it a night!
Next morning we woke up super early (I still managed an early morning dip in my pool) to drive down to Bangalore to catch our flight to Delhi.
