Hey sweeties,
It's so much fun these days, shipping decorating house and excellent food, all thanks to Diwali.
We in India celebrate Diwali in a big way . Rituals start two days before and so many gusts coming in every day .
I wanted my house to smell good. Off course I can use market bought air fresheners but I am a little sensitive to extremely strong smell's and light ones don't last.
Spraying it again and again means a lot of chemical around me and air freshners are quite costly too.
I thought of looking for a good recipe which is cost effective and helps me to fill each and every corner if house with fragrance.
I was trying it just like that so didn't click any pic, it was me trying it for the first time. It turned out well so thought of posting it.
Not posting the pic of my ready product because it is in the most ugliest spray bottle. But here is the recipe :
Ingredients:
1) Distilled water 2 1/2 cups
2) Vodka 1/4 cup
3) Essential oil or fragrance oil. ( No specific measurement, Keep adding until you like ) I used Lavender oil.
Mix vodka and essential oil and pour it into a spray bottle. Add water and shake well.
It's very cost effective so you can spray as much you want and chemical free too.. :)
Hope this post was useful for you.
Happy Diwali. Hope this Diwali fills your life with lights and joy.
Love,
Pooja Mittal

Hi dear Pooja, this is a very good tip, now I have only to buy wodka as I normally don´t drink alcohol. But I love the smell of lavender what you suggest as the essential oil and we have still a very big bottle of this oil at home :)

Pooja, the homemade air fresheners are the best ... the scent lasts the longest and no chemicals...

I agree, its cost effective to add scent in our home.
ReplyDeleteI love Diwali!! Some of my Indian friends invited our family over for a Diwali celebration a few years ago, and it was the most fun I have ever had! so much food and games... and of course, good company. What an interesting air freshener recipe... although, I'd be a little worried about sniffing and getting drunk off of the vodka from the air (even though most of it would probably evaporate anyways) hehe
