Hey dolls,
Its Halloween time and I see pumpkin all over . Well not around me but every where on web.
We in India don't celebrate Halloween but the concept of it really interests me. So I was looking at Halloween and fall decor pics, when I saw a pic of pumpkins and I got this idea to make Fabric pumpkins.
I tried and it turned out really. So here are my DIY pumpkin.
Lets see what we need :
1) Two pieces of fabric
Pumpkin body- 20" 40 "
(Length= 2 X breadth)
Stem - A handkerchief size
2) Wool warn
3) A big needle
4) Fabric Glue
5) A pair of scissors
6) Cotton
Now this is how we make it:
1) Take bigger piece of fabric and glue two sides together keeping the right side up.
It will look like a bag with one side open.
Let it dry and turn inside out.
2) Fill it with the cotton . Make sure you fill it up-to the brim.
3) Tread your needle and sew on the edge of the brim . Just go over and under the fabric.
4) When you reach the point you started just pull the tread and ties it tight . t will now look like a tied sack.
Now take your threaded needle again and make a stitch of the center of the bottom of pumpkin. Pull the wool upward to the upper center where you tied the sack. make one stitch there. Make sure wool is very tightly pulled to create the bulging effect.
Repeat the process on the four sides first to balance the cotton so that pumpkin is not heavy on one side and light on other.
5) Continue tying wool until you like the shape of your pumpkin.
6) Take the stem fabric and fold it in half. Draw the shape of stem and cut it out . Yow will have two pices o this shape. Glue them together with right side facing up. Once dry , turn them inside out and will with some cotton.
And cute fabric pumpkins are ready.
I made them in three different size's and and decorated them on my dresser.
They are easy to make, the only problem I faces was threading the needle.
You can use different prints and have fun with it. There baby's will add a fun color to your decorations. :)
Next on my list is to find out how to celebrate Halloween and story behind d it. If you guys know , please share.. I am very quires to know why is it celebrated.
Hope I am not too late for making fall Halloween decorations.

7) Cut 2 circles out of the left over fabric . Glue it on the bottom of the pumpkin to hide all the thread.
8) Take the other circle and fold it two times as shown. Cut it edges in zig- zak and paste it on top of the pumpkin. ( this is optional , I did this only on this pumpkin and not the other two.)
Also glue the stem we made earlier.
And cute fabric pumpkins are ready.
I made them in three different size's and and decorated them on my dresser.
