Hey galz,
For a perfect look we use makeup and to make your makeup look best we need a very good base.
Me being oily and acne prone always had the problem of foundation melting , looking supa oily and hiving a very cakey look.
Have been looking for a good foundation for ever.
A month back I was on YouTube and noticed people raving about Revlon color stay foundation for oily skin.
Had no hope from it ( have bought so many products with high hope but they dint work at all)but thought whats the harm in giving it a short. But as my destiny is too good , when I got out to buy it got to know that its discontinued.. :(
Sales girl told me that whipped formula is even better and as usual I got influenced and bought.
I must tell you that this is one of the best makeup decisions I made.
Although the shade I got was not matching( I do this mistake all time), but then got a darken shade to mix and use.
The jars look very classy but wish it had a pump |
Although the shade I got was not matching( I do this mistake all time), but then got a darken shade to mix and use.
I generally like to mix light and dark shades of the foundation to get my exact colour.( I am weird & crazy)
The two colours I have are Natural Ochre( Light shade available) and Natural Tan (Darkest shades available). The two extreme colours allow me to make any colour I want,so I don't have to buy separate foundation for when I get tanned.
Coming back to the product Revlon colour stay wipped , it available in this very classy looking glass jar of 23.7 ml for 800 INR.
I tried to apply it with brush and also with hands. According to me the best way to apply it is with your hands as it warms up the product and helps spread it evenly and better.
Its consistency is quite thick. When you first dip your finger in it you will feel that it wound spread but its blends very easily.
Pros:
1) Does not look cakey.
2) Very good for oily skin .
3) Does not break me out.
4) Does not melt or anything . I applied it around 11 a.m and was in sun all day. When came back un the evening it looked exact the same ,no melting no oiliness.
5) Little is more. You just need a very small amount and you are done.
6) I tried it without setting it with a powder on a cooler day and it still didn't melt at all. So in winter no need for face powder.
7) Can be used for sheer, medium and full coverage.
8) Covers most if my acne scars.( Sometimes I use it without consealer)
9) Has shelf life of 3 years. Isn't it great.
10) It is waterproof. I went in rain with this on.
11) The product is easily available.
Cons:
1) Dries fast . So I apply it in small portions and spread fast.
2) Its just available in 3 shades in India. So to match exactly is very difficult. ( I bought 2 shades and mix them)
3) Really wish it had a pump . Its quit costly for a drugstore foundation so I definitely expect a pump. Its much more hygienic.
According to me its one of the best foundations for super oily , oily and normal skin people.
Dry skin people must moisturise well before applying it.
It is so true to its name . The colour really stays. :)
Rating: 4.5
Have you used it , and how did you find it???
Which is your favourite foundation?
Hope you enjoyed reading .
Thanks for your time.
Love,
Pooja Mittal

Nice review!! Looks like a good one! Good tips, on mixing two sets of color to get the shade. And a very nice click!!
ReplyDeleteI don't use foundation, so no preferred product as yet.. mine would be a cleansing, NO toning, moisturizing and applying sun screen ritual, that is it!
i guess ur very blessed to have a skin which you can rok without foundation...
Deletewelll I dont use foundation daily, but whenever I use i use this... :)

ReplyDeletegood review dear. and hope you had a great vacation.
ReplyDeleteI do agree that it's more better when it comes with a pump because of hygienic purposes! ^^

Its always better with pump, and little always goes a long way, nice review...
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to try the colorstay foundation for REvlon too. It looks great on you. Yeah even here in Philippines, the shades are very limited. You are so pretty sis!
ReplyDeleteI'm always looking for a good foundation for dry skin, these things always dry my skin out completely and my whole face gets flaky, so I better stay away from this one.:) But I love the idea of mixing two different shades together, I've never even thought of that!!
ReplyDeleteI never would have though that it would be good for oily skin. The whipped cream formula seemed more for dry skin. But I'm glad it would work on my skin too then! :-)
ReplyDeleteThis sounds and looks like a great product, thanks for the review!

Hi! From Revlon I tried Colorstay and Photoready. Both are ok, but first one I use in winter (is more heavy, but covers better). Photoready is more light, good for summer. I need to order this in internet, because is not available in Austria.
ReplyDeleteNow I'm testing Gosh Naturla Touch, seems good, for sure I make some review post.
Btw, I like your blog a lot, would you like to check mine? Maybe we can follow each other? Let me know, I always follow back!

Hey!
ReplyDeleteI thoroughly enjoy reviews about foundation, because foundation is just sooo hard to find the right one for your skin as every one is different!! I personally have dry skin, so don't think this would be good for me. I have always wanted to try it though. Funny your review isn't what I expected as the pictures make it look REALLY liquidy!
I'm so glad you reviewed it though so looks aren't always what they seem ;)

Great post,
ReplyDeletethank you!
I have also sooo oily skin and what I can also recommend to you
is from MAC the studiofix foundation.
I know it does cost a lot, but I am so happy with it, it makes
my so oily skin completely matte looking like no other foundation
ever did. Though i want to try out the Revlon too.
Lot of greetings,
Eva
